The quality of AI help depends a lot on how you ask. A vague request gets a vague result; a clear one gets something you can actually use. Below are 25 AI video editing prompts written for screen recordings, grouped by job, plus a simple formula so you can write your own.
A simple formula for good prompts
Most good prompts have four parts:
- Action: what you want done ("zoom in", "cut", "write").
- Target: where or on what ("the part where I open Settings", "the first 10 seconds").
- Style or limit: how it should look or how long ("slowly", "under 60 characters").
- Audience: who it's for ("beginners", "Bangla-speaking students").
You don't need all four every time, but the more you include, the fewer retries you need. Fewer retries also keep AI costs low.
Zoom and focus prompts
Cinematic Recorder already adds click-based auto zoom without AI. These prompts are for fine-tuning on top of that.
- "Zoom in on the Save button when I tap it at around 1:20, and hold for two seconds."
- "Make all zooms slower and gentler; this video is for older viewers."
- "Remove the zoom at 0:45 — it's too close and hides the menu."
- "Add a spotlight on the search bar while I type, then return to full screen."
- "Keep the camera bubble in the bottom-left corner so it never covers the keyboard."
Cutting and cleanup prompts
- "Cut every pause longer than two seconds, but keep short breathing pauses."
- "Remove the part where I made a mistake and repeated the step, keep the second take."
- "Trim the start so the video begins right when I open the app."
- "Cut the section where my notification appeared."
- "Remove filler words like 'um', 'uh' and 'mane', but don't make the speech sound choppy."
Because editing in the app is non-destructive, any cut can be undone if the AI gets it wrong.
Pacing prompts
- "Speed up the loading screen in the middle so it takes about two seconds."
- "Find parts where nothing changes on screen for more than five seconds and suggest what to do."
- "Make the whole video fit under three minutes without cutting any steps."
- "Slow down the part where I enter the settings, viewers need to follow each tap."
- "Point out the slowest section and explain why it feels slow."
Caption and language prompts
- "Create Bangla captions, short lines, no more than two lines on screen."
- "Fix the spelling of app names in the captions: bKash, Nagad, Canva."
- "Translate the captions into English, keep technical terms the same."
- "Highlight key words in the captions, like button names."
- "Make a clean transcript with paragraphs I can post below the video."
Captions are in the app today; translation is still coming soon. Learn more in AI captions and translation.
Titles, descriptions and Shorts prompts
- "Write 5 YouTube titles under 60 characters for a beginner tutorial on sending money with a bKash test account. Put the main keyword first."
- "Write a 3-line description with chapters based on this transcript."
- "Suggest 3 moments from this video that could work as 30-second Reels, with a reason for each."
- "Reframe the best 40 seconds to 9:16 and keep my cursor in view."
- "Write a hook for the first five seconds that tells viewers what they'll learn."
Picking highlights is its own skill; see using AI to find the best moments for Shorts.
Tips for better results
Use timestamps and screen names
"At 2:10" or "when the Settings screen opens" is much clearer than "that part".
One job per prompt
Asking for zooms, cuts and captions at once can confuse the AI. Do them in steps.
Say what to keep
"Cut pauses but keep the result screen for three seconds" prevents over-editing.
Write in the language you think in
You can write prompts in Bangla or English. If results seem off, try the other language and compare.
Never paste secrets
Don't include passwords, OTPs or account numbers in a prompt. Read is AI safe for screen content for more.
Where AI keys fit
AI in Cinematic Recorder uses your own key from OpenAI or Google Gemini. Keys stay in Android Keystore on your phone and are never sent to our servers. See the AI assistant section of the features page for what's planned.
FAQ
Can I write prompts in Bangla?
Yes. Most modern models understand Bangla prompts. Results vary by model, so check Bangla output carefully.
Do I need special words or commands?
No. Plain, specific sentences work best. Think of explaining the edit to a helpful friend.
What if the AI does something I didn't want?
Undo it or adjust it manually. Edits are non-destructive, so your original recording is never changed.
Can I use these prompts now?
The writing prompts work today in any AI chat tool. The in-app editing assistant is coming soon; until then, the editor's manual tools and auto zoom do the job.
Save your favourite prompts in a note and reuse them. Over time you'll build a personal prompt kit that turns a raw recording into a clean video much faster.
