Auto zoom that follows every click

Record normally, and the editor turns your taps into smooth zooms so viewers always see the detail.

A phone screen is small, and a full-screen recording makes buttons, menus and text even smaller on a viewer's display. Cinematic Recorder works as an auto zoom screen recorder: it remembers where you tapped while recording, then the editor builds smooth zooms toward those spots for you. You get the "camera follows the action" look without keyframing anything by hand.

What auto zoom does

Each tap, or a quick group of taps in one area, becomes a zoom segment. The frame glides in toward the spot you touched, holds while the result appears, and then glides back out to the full screen. Because it is based on your real taps, the zoom lands on the button or field you actually used, not on a guess.

This is the single biggest reason a screen recording starts to feel like a produced video. If you want the background, our guide on what makes a screen recording look cinematic explains how zoom, cursor and pacing work together.

  • Click-based: zooms come from where and when you tapped.
  • Smooth easing: the frame speeds up and slows down gently instead of snapping.
  • Non-destructive: your original recording is never changed; every zoom is an editable layer.

How it works

While you record, the app notes the position and time of each tap. In the editor, taps that happen close together in space and time are grouped, so the frame does not jump between two neighbouring buttons. The zoom starts moving slightly before the tap, so the viewer arrives at the button together with your finger, not after it.

The hold lasts while something happens on screen, such as a menu opening or a form filling, and then the view eases back out. For a deeper walk-through, read auto zoom in screen recordings explained, which also covers when a zoom should be removed.

When to use it

Auto zoom helps whenever the viewer needs to see a small detail:

  • App tutorials: show exactly which setting to tap, step by step.
  • Product demos: keep attention on the feature you are selling.
  • Bug reports and support replies: make the exact tap that causes a problem obvious.
  • Vertical videos: on a 9:16 Reel the frame is already tight, so zooms keep text readable.

It is less useful for gameplay or long scrolling sections, where constant movement can feel tiring. In those parts, simply delete the zooms you do not need.

Step by step in the app

  1. Start a recording from the app or the floating controls, and use your phone normally. Tap deliberately, and pause for a moment after important taps.
  2. Stop the recording and open the project in the editor. The zoom segments are already placed on the timeline.
  3. Play it back. For each zoom, keep it, adjust its timing or zoom level, or delete it.
  4. Combine it with the smart cursor and a focus highlight if you want the viewer's eye guided even more.
  5. Export in 16:9, 9:16 or 4:5. The zooms follow the new frame.
Tip: Fewer, well-timed zooms beat a zoom on every tap. If two zooms happen within a second or two, try keeping only one.

Tips for better zooms

  • Slow down slightly. A short pause after a tap gives the zoom time to settle and the viewer time to read.
  • Avoid frantic tapping. Many quick taps across the screen create many small movements.
  • Pair zooms with highlights. A focus or spotlight effect works well when the zoomed area still contains several items.
  • Check readability. Watch the result on a phone, not only in the editor, before you post.

Frequently asked questions

Does auto zoom change my original recording?

No. All edits in Cinematic Recorder are non-destructive. The original video stays as it was, and you can remove or change any zoom at any time before exporting.

Can I turn off a single zoom?

Yes. Each zoom is its own segment in the editor, so you can delete or adjust just that one and keep the rest.

Do I need an AI key for auto zoom?

No. Auto zoom is based on your taps and works fully with AI turned off. No AI key is needed.

Is auto zoom in the free plan?

Auto zoom is part of the editor. The free plan includes basic editing with no watermark, and Premium and Lifetime unlock the full editor. To compare exactly what each plan includes, see the pricing section.
